I'd always been a massive fan of happy-ever-afters. I devoured every Jill Mansell book I could lay my hands on and watched every Meg Ryan movie. I also dabbled with writing a romance novel but had never really taken it to the next level (ie beyond a stack of notebooks in the bottom of my wardrobe!).
To my utter amazement my competition entry made it to the final four, and my prize was a Kindle and a chance to work with a Mills & Boon editor on a new story (me - who never wins anything!!). Seven months later I was offered a contract with Harlequin KISS/Mills & Boon ModernTempted and I've been writing funny, sassy, sexy stories for them ever since.
In 2013, I also began writing a series of stories for HarperImpulse, the brand new digital-first imprint from the women's fiction team at HarperCollins. The Do Not Disturb series are standalone stories based at the same boutique hotel in London.
My writing career so far has been a roller coaster of ups and downs, during which I've made masses of head-crashing-on-desk mistakes and also learned tons, and I've documented the whole journey in my blog (should anyone be crazy enough to want to read it).
My writing is fuelled by lots of coffee and years of daydreaming during my past life in a string of office jobs. I live in Wiltshire, England, where I squash my writing in between looking after two teenagers, a six year old, a dachshund with an attitude (see below), and an amazing husband who doesn't notice that the housework is never done. I also have a bit of an addiction to American TV shows and social media and really it's a miracle I get anything done at all.
